Artistic whimsy at the Cambria Scarecrow Fesival

Not to be missed festival runs from October 1 – 31 throughout downtown Cambria and San Simeon

Creative and whimsical scarecrows line the streets and fill empty lots through October 31. The festival debuted in 2009 and has been featured in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, ABC News, and Huffington Post.  USA Today named the festival as one of the nation’s top 10 autumn festivals and The Travel Channel included it in the top 10 scarecrow festivals in the U.S. and Canada.

Bring your camera and plan on spending the day. Some people prefer to drive slowly through the towns to view the scarecrows, but the best experiences come with strolling through the villages for close-up encounters with the many scarecrows. A stroll is a great way to meet other scarecrow fans and make new friends. It’s also the best way to experience the many shops and restaurants.

Don’t miss the viewing of the documentary Something To Crow About showing at the Cambria Center of Arts at 1 pm and 3 pm every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until October 29, 2023. This 40-minute view of what happens behind the scenes to bring this festival to life is free but donations are accepted to keep this festival going.

Don’t forget to vote for your favorite scarecrow and display on CambriaScarecrows.com/scarecrow-survey! You’ll also be entered to win a free night stay in Cambria.
