As if 400 scarecrows weren’t enough, this year the Cambria Historical Society has added a long weekend full of food and wine events to its annual autumn Scarecrow Festival.
The Cambria Scarecrows’ Harvest Weekend will kick off Friday, Oct. 11, and run through Monday, Oct. 14, featuring a winemaker dinner in a vineyard, tour of Cambria farms, pie baking contest and downtown market showcasing the best of the local harvest. “This is a great opportunity to taste locally produced food and wine, meet our farmers and experience fine dining in a gorgeous setting,” said Consuelo Macedo, event co-chair. “Cambria is already a popular destination, especially during the Scarecrow Festival, but this weekend of events puts icing on the cake.”
For the uninitiated, the Scarecrow Festival is in its fifth year, with hundreds of local businesses, organizations, adults, kids and families creating imaginative, one-of-a-kind figures that grace the entire downtown business district and beyond. Friday, Oct. 11 – Pie-baking contest, candy apples and tote bag sales at Cambria Farmers Market, 1000 Main St. $5 entry or tasting fee.
Saturday, Oct. 12 – Harvest Market featuring 30 food, wine and beer vendors, East Village Cambria. Free admission.
Sunday, Oct. 13 – Vine Dining Winemaker Dinner prepared by four top Cambria chefs, Stolo Family Winery, Santa Rosa Creek Rd. TICKETS ARE SOLD OUT.
Monday, Oct. 14 – A guided Farm Tour of Cambria farms and ranches, including gourmet luncheon and wine tasting. SOME TICKETS are available as/of Aug. 15.
Proceeds benefit the Cambria Historical Society and the Cambria Historical Museum and Heirloom Gardens.
