Cambria Scarecrows Are Too Cool for the Cornfield

As if 400 scarecrows weren’t enough, this year the Cambria Historical Society has added a long weekend full of food and wine events to its annual autumn Scarecrow Festival.

The Cambria Scarecrows’ Harvest Weekend will kick off Friday, Oct. 11, and run through Monday, Oct. 14, featuring a winemaker dinner in a vineyard, tour of Cambria farms, pie baking contest and downtown market showcasing the best of the local harvest. Information available at cambriahistoricalsociety.com.

“This is a great opportunity to taste locally produced food and wine, meet our farmers and experience fine dining in a gorgeous setting,” said Consuelo Macedo, event co-chair. “Cambria is already a popular destination, especially during the Scarecrow Festival, but this weekend of events puts icing on the cake.”

For the uninitiated, the Scarecrow Festival is in its fifth year, with hundreds of local businesses, organizations, adults, kids and families creating imaginative, one-of-a-kind figures that grace the entire downtown business district and beyond. The Cambria Scarecrow Festival runs the whole month of October. For more information and photos of past events, go to cambriascarecrows.com.
