National Tradesman Day falls on September 18 in 2020. The day is celebrated every year on the third Friday in September. The management of Electricraft, Inc. is publicly thanking every member of the Electricraft Team of the best electricians, technicians and support staff that San Luis Obispo County has to offer.
“Electricraft was founded as a family business,” said company Vice-President Jake Treder. “We have remained a family business since 1984 and every person on our team is family. Many of our team have been with us for years, but long-term or new, we appreciate the contribution of every single team member who has helped make Electricraft a local success.”
Tradesmen are the men and women whose expertise keeps the nation running. Their skills and knowledge keep the lights on, water running through pipes, roads and bridges open for travel and commerce, build new homes, deliver food and goods coast-to-coast and border-to-border, create beautiful landscapes, and work to keep communities safe and prosperous.
“This is also a very good time to honor the firefighters, heavy equipment operators, pilots, emergency medical response teams, law enforcement, and everyone else who is on the front lines of the massive wildfires raging through California and our neighboring states,” said Treder.
Many tradesmen and women and first responders are on call 24/7 to respond to emergencies of all sizes. These experts take care of their communities by keeping things safe and operating smoothly, keep unique and specialized skills, licenses and certifications up-to-date, raise families and contribute to their communities. Much of what they do is done without much visibility except when there is an emergency.
Skilled trades are one of the fastest growing sectors in the job market. These jobs are so valuable to local communities and the nation, that training is available in nearly every skilled trade job sector. Being successful at any skilled trade means staying abreast of emerging technologies, knowing which codes, regulations and laws apply to your trade, the ability to communicate well with co-workers and clients, the ability to work closely with associates in regulatory agencies and the ability to solve problems. The men and women who choose a career in a skilled trade are making significant contributions to the successes of their communities.
Wave and smile
Thank your local tradespeople. The next time you are stopped for road work, wave at the sign holder when you drive by. Wave when you see an electrician’s or plumber’s utility truck or van. Thank your carpenter, painter and auto mechanic. Encourage your sons and daughters to pursue their interest in a skilled trade. Who knows where it will lead?
